BackgroundAudience-neutral. The work behind the holding company.

Technology

Technology serves operations. It is not the headline.

We do not lead with technology. We lead with operators, brand, and customer relationships — and then we add a small, deliberate set of tools where they make the existing team better. Sellers do not want to be 'AI-enabled.' They want their team preserved and their customers honored. That is what the work is for.

The Frame

Quiet additions, never replacements.

The companies we acquire have decades of customer history, trusted technicians, and operating rhythms that work. Technology earns its place by amplifying that — not by overwriting it. If a tool does not save real time or improve real customer outcomes, we do not deploy it.

Dispatch and route optimization

For service-heavy businesses, the same scheduling and routing tooling reduces drive time and increases jobs per day without disrupting the existing field team. Dispatchers stay in charge; the software just gives them better information.

Deficiency-to-quote-to-completion workflow

Critical for inspection-heavy work — fire protection, life safety, building automation, generator service. Deficiencies found on routine inspections become quoted, scheduled, and closed work, instead of falling through the cracks. Recurring revenue density goes up because nothing slips.

Cross-portfolio benchmarking

Operating data flows (carefully) across companies, so each one gets smarter. We can see what good looks like across our own books — close rates, technician productivity, service mix, retention. That knowledge supports owner decisions; it doesn't override them.

Pricing discipline

Pricing data shared across the portfolio means each company knows where it stands relative to similar work. Owners stay in charge of pricing — they just have better context when they make the call.

The Cross-Portfolio Layer

The data compounds because we hold forever.

One advantage of permanent ownership: the operating data we accumulate across the portfolio gets richer every year, and it never gets sold off in an exit. Tradesmith — the technology layer that sits across the holding company — is what turns that into something useful.

Tradesmith is the cross-portfolio operating layer for Strata. It ingests dispatch, financial, and customer data from every company we own and turns it into the inputs operators actually need — service-mix benchmarks, pricing context, customer-health signals, technician productivity comparisons.

Because we hold companies indefinitely, the data set deepens indefinitely. The longer we own a business, the better the underlying signal — which is the opposite of how data assets are typically treated under fund-clock economics.

Where We Are Disciplined

What we don't do.

We don't replace dispatchers. We give them better tools.
We don't pitch sellers on AI. We talk about preserving teams.
We don't deploy software for the sake of a slide. Tools have to earn their place.
We don't share data across companies in ways that compromise customer trust.
We are operators first, investors second. The best financial outcomes come from the best customer experiences — and from preserving what already works.

Where to Next

Technology is one piece. The rest of the strategy lives here.
